Game overview
LOAA is a single-player, top-down fantasy role-playing game in which the player leads a party of adventurers across a chain of islands. It is seen from above, like Baldur's Gate 3, painted like World of Warcraft Classic and League of Legends, and fought in real time.
The pivot of 2026-09-28
The project began as a realistic third-person game. On 2026-09-28 the director changed course, in his words: "we will create the game that looks more like baldurs gate 3, so it is not third person view but with camera up with the direction down following the characters but the like hand-drawn game, not the real one."
- The islands, the settlements and the level plans stayed.
- The realistic-era assets were archived and are used only as a parts source.
- Unreal Engine and MetaHuman were dropped; the game is built in Godot.
Core pillars
- A tactical camera above the party. It follows the selected character or the whole party, pitched about 50–60° down, zooming from close enough to see faces to far enough to read a whole fight. See Camera.
- A party, not a lone hero. Every companion who joins can be controlled; the others follow and fight on their own. See Party and combat.
- Real-time combat, closer to WoW and LoL than to BG3's turns.
- Readable from above. Roofs and walls between the camera and the party fade or cut away; every building's purpose reads from outside.
- A lived-in, believable world. Houses have owners and trades, graves face the sunrise, harbours have breakwaters because the wind demands them.
The first demo: Stara Luka
The first playable slice is Stara Luka, a small fishing town on Island 1, with its pier, its inn and its town life, and across the harbour the haunted Glavica cemetery, the Octagon mausoleum, and the dungeon below it.
The player's arc (the first 20 minutes, from the level plan): come down the harbour road → the riva and the fish market → out along the pier, where the cemetery's cypresses and the mausoleum stand across the water → the shore path → the cemetery gate and the first enemies → the mausoleum → down through the levels, each older than the one above → the boss below the sea → the shortcut back up → out into the cemetery at dusk, with the town's lights across the water.
The cast
The party and main characters are the hero, Vella, Zanze, Nana, Manfred and Stalvan, with Peels as an NPC. Their roles and stories are Unconfirmed — awaiting the director.
