The Veli mul is Stara Luka's single timber pier and the town's signature landmark. It leaves the Riva at the pier square and runs straight out into the harbour.

Overview

One longitudinal deck of constant width, planks laid across, with edge posts, and no platform or T-head (director, 2026-09-29, from concept 01).
Built at 40 m × 5.6 m, with a 3.3 m walk lane kept clear down the middle.
Boats lie alongside: a pasara at the pier foot, a gajeta at the net-mending corner.
Rope coils at the posts, baskets beside the moored boats, a net heap, oars leaning on a post, and lamps at mid-pier and at the head.

The view from the head

From the pier head (the vista beat O1), the whole riva front lies behind you with the campanile up the kala, and across about 54 m of clear water rises the Glavica with the Octagon on its crown, 91 m away. This is where the pier-head turn sets up the quest.

History of the design

The first plan (2026-09-27) drew a 100 m pier with a T-head in deep water, with piles of different ages because warm salt water breeds shipworm. When the mausoleum moved close to the town and the director asked for one plain deck, the pier became today's 40 m straight deck.
